Assessment 1: Understand Your Team and Plan Your Participation. Due Date: Friday October 23 (Week 3) Identify and describe your team and its role within the church Identify and describe your own role within the team Plan your participation to ensure you meet your role’s responsibilities
Assessment 1 - Prepare and present a speech to a group of friends/mentors/class (5-15 min). Due Date: Friday November 6 (Week 5) Using the Assessment 1 Document, present to a group of at least 2 familiar people and obtain feedback from them afterwards. (You will present it again in A2, so make sure it is a message you can develop and research in greater depth.)
Assessment 3: Using resources from your church, create a communication policy document for your team Due Date: Friday November 13 (Week 6) Research your churches policies and procedures, then develop a policies and procedures guide for communication in your team
Assessment 2 – Create a team orientation document Due Date: Friday November 20 (Week 7) Create an orientation document that can be used when inducting new team members, communicating important information about the team and any relevant team/organisational guidelines.
Assessment 2: Prepare and present to a small group (5-15 min) of people different to Assessment 1 Due Date: Friday, December 4 (Week 9) Using the Assessment 2 Document provided under the assessment tile, Revise, Prepare, Present, Record a video and Evaluate the same Message as Assessment 1 to a different audience; Making the changes required for the different context and audience requirements.
Assessment 2 – Provision of care role play and reflection Due Date: Friday December 4 (Week 9) You will be given two scenarios for which you must video-record yourself role-playing the provision of care using the skills you have learnt throughout the unit. Upon completing your role-play, you must reflect on how you could improve your care provision in a real-life situation.
Assessment 3: Prepare and present a new presentation to a group (5-15 min) of different people Due Date: Friday, December 18 (Week 11) Prepare, Present, Record a video and Evaluate one of the following Ministry Message types. Communion, Devotion, Altar Call Tithe Message. Your presentation’s topic and type must be different from that of assessments 1 and 2 and must be presented to a different audience.
Assessment 3 – Execute your plan and evaluate your performance Due Date: Friday December 18 (Week 11) Execute your team plan from Assessment 1, incorporating input from your team. Record your progress in a logbook and evaluate your performance.
Assessment 3 – Care for self and others in ministry Due Date: Friday December 18 (Week 11) Execute your self-care plan and record your progress in a journal throughout the term. Provide a basic level of care to those you engage with within your church community throughout the term, using the skills you have learnt in this unit. Log and reflect on your provision of care. At the end of the term, debrief with a leader in your church who has experience in pastoral care about your self-care and care throughout the term.
Assessment 2: Participate in and evaluate your effectiveness within the team Due Date: Friday December 18 (week 11) • Throughout the term, keep a record of your participation, its effectiveness, and communication within the team. • At the end of the term, provide a self–evaluation and gain a review from your team leader (or, if you are leading the team, from your direct supervisor) • The focus of this assessment should be on your team interaction (i.e., how you contributed to the team, how you participated and collaborated with your fellow team members, etc.), not on your ministry interaction (i.e., your team’s role within the church) • Refer to your team analysis from Assessment 1 for the completion of this assessment.
