Assessment 2 - Knowledge Quiz. Opens: Monday, September 15 (start of Week 9) Closes: either 5 days after it is opened OR 11:55PM Friday October 10 (week 12), whichever comes first. You will find access to the quiz under the Assessment tile in Moodle. You will be given 3 attempts to score 100%. Failing to attain mark of 100% or higher will result in a Not Yet Satisfactory grade for this assessment.
Assessment 2 – Disciple a church member for 8 weeks. Due Date: October 10 (Week 12) Follow the discipleship plan from Assessment 1 over 8 weeks (about 2 months), keeping a log of your own progress and the process of discipleship. The person you disciple will need to fill out an evaluation at the end of the time so please make sure they are aware of this before they begin.

Due Date: October 10 (Week 12) This assessment could be complex and so students should begin working on it as early as possible. Use the Assessment 1 Assessment Document to Disciple others into the foundational beliefs, practices and ministry of their church.
Assessment 1 – Plan to undertake self-care Due Date: Friday October 31 (Week 3) With the help of a leader within the church who has experience in pastoral care, develop a 6-week plan to meet three self-care goals throughout the term.

Assessment 1 - Prepare and present a speech to a group of friends/mentors/class (5-15 min). Due Date: Friday November 14 (Week 5) Using the Assessment 1 Document, Present to a group of at least 2 familiar people and obtain feedback from them afterwards. (You will present it again in A2, so make sure it is a message you can develop and research in greater depth.)
Assessment 3: Using resources from your church, create a communication policy document for your team Due Date: Friday November 21 (Week 6) Research your churches policies and procedures, then develop a policies and procedures guide for communication in your team
Assessment 2: Prepare and present to a small group (5-15 min) of people different to Assessment 1 Due Date: Friday, December 12 (Week 9) Using the Assessment 2 Document provided under the assessment tile, Revise, Prepare, Present, Record a video and Evaluate the same Message as Assessment 1 to a different audience; Making the changes required for the different context and audience requirements.
Assessment 2 – Provision of care role play and reflection Due Date: Friday December 12 (Week 9) You will be given 2 scenarios for which you must video record yourself role playing the provision of care using the skills you have learnt throughout the unit. On completion of your role play you must provide a reflection on how you could improve your provision of care in a real-life situation.
Assessment 3: Prepare and present a new presentation to a group (5-15 min) of different people Due Date: Friday, January 16, 2026 Prepare, Present, Record a video and Evaluate one of the following Ministry Message types. Communion, Devotion, Altar Call Tithe Message. Your presentation’s topic and type must be different from that of assessments 1 and 2 and must be presented to a different audience.
Assessment 3 – Care for self and others in ministry Due Date: Friday January 16, 2026 Execute your self-care plan and journal your progress throughout the term. Provide a basic level of care to those you engage with within your church community throughout the term using the skills you have learnt in this unit. Log and reflect on your provision of care. At the end of the term, debrief with a leader in your church experienced pastoral care about your self-care and care throughout the term.
Assessment 2: Participate in and evaluate your effectiveness within the team Due Date: Friday January 16, 2026 Throughout the term, keep a record of your participation, the effectiveness of your participation and communication within the team. At the end of the term, provide a self–evaluation and gain a review from your team leader (or if you are leading the team from your direct supervisor) outlining your performance.
